Yes, Ken Barlow is the longest established single soap character in Coronation Street. I'd say second longest is Emily Bishop, who joined in 1961. As far as I can remember, he has been married four times (twice with Dierdre Barlow). The other two were Valerie, the mother of his twins, Peter and Susan. She was electrocuted and killed. His second wife was Janet Reid, who commited suicide in 1977; theh he wed Dierdre, once in 1981, and again a few years back.
