Naruto's dad is the 4th Hokage, and Jeraiya gave him the name Naruto.
So, that means that Naruto's dad is dead because he killed himself trying to put Nine Tails into Naruto.
Okay no offence to the dude above me but you are so wrong. Throught out the serice it is said that Naruto's father is in fact dead but as you continue to read and go on to shippuden there are signs that he is not dead. One example is in the Naruto Ultimate Ninja's 3 game (It may be Ultimate Ninja's 2) one of Naruto's attacks are called Mysterious Aid where his father shows up to help him during battle. Now some may say that his is not his father but it is very obvious that it is. If you don't believe me then oh well play the game and see what you think.
