Sonic X's first season sports an original storyline, and the second is mostly based on the Sonic Adventure games and Sonic Battle. Sonic X doesn't follow the story of Sonic Advance games, though it does feature Cream and Cheese from the Sonic Advance series.

Sonic Adventure and Sonic adventure 2 were based off the anime series "Sonic X". As for sequels, Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 is very similar in gameplay. And finally I wouldn't expect a multiplayer function any time soon, those games are just too old, and judging by the recent Sonic games I'd say that SEGA have moved away from the "adventure" style and have focused on a more basic style (sonic colors and sonic generations are a good example of this new game style). So I wouldn't expect a "Sonic Adventure 3" or a multiplayer function any time soon.

Sonic Adventure DX is the remake of Sonic Adventure, which was originally for the Dreamcast. Shadow first appeared in Sonic Adventure 2, and made his first Nintendo appearance with Sonic Adventure 2: Battle for the Gamecube. Since Adventure 2 came after Adventure, Shadow never appears in Sonic Adventure DX. Oddly enough, the Dark/Run/Run Chao is the same in both games.
