An auteur is defined as a filmmaker whose personal influence and artistic control over a movie are so great that the filmmaker is regarded as the "author" of the movie,

regardless, or in spite, of how they were funded or the conditions under which they were made.

Some may consider Wes Anderson an auteur, as you always know a Wes Anderson film when you see it. His style, visual choices, directional decisions, script selections, and just a touch of weirdness all make his movies easy to spot. He is consistent with all of these aspects, and may be considered an auteur.
