it depends on what you are going to do, in the center of the city prices of hotels and restaurants etc are higher, however you can do a lot of great things an Amsterdam (and the Netherlands) for a fairly small amount of money
I was in Amsterdam for three days last week. Here are a few prices of average things which I encountered.
Taxi from Airport to Dam Square = 55.00 euro Train and tram will take you the same distance for 5.00 euro in 40 mins.
Large beer, which is just over a pint in most bars would be approx 5.00 -5.60
Pack of Cigarettes = 4.00
Bar food / Nice Eatery:
Sandwich 5-8.00 euro Bowl of soup 6.00 euro Main Course (Not Steak) 16 - 20.00 euro McDonalds (Same as the states) We have the Euro menu like ye have the Dollar menu.
Trams throughout Amsterdam +/- 2 euro Anne Frank house 8.50 entrance (Worth seeing!)
Accommodation is reasonably priced. we paid on average of 35.00 per night. Do not expect huge rooms either. Most of the hotels are in the preserved canal buildings of Amsterdam and have staircases that are so vertical they look like ladders. I found the locals there very pleasant so ask questions if need be.
Do not entertain guys in certain area's who call you or try to attract your attention, totally ignore them like the locals do. If they hear you are not local some of them try to sell you crap!
I''m from Holland, and I say it depends on where you're going. When you're a tourist, it will be more expensive cause you don't know where to go. When you're in the main streets, it will be more expensive then in another, smaller place or in small streets.
It's pretty expensive. If you were buying the entire city I think it would cost you at least 9000 Euros. I would stick to the more interesting city center, i think that can be yours for about 3400 Euros (just a rough guess).
if you go organized in a group you can afford the vacation there, but if you go with no preparation at all you may fint it expensive.
Millions of people visit Amsterdam annually.
Finding accommodation in Amsterdam is usually not very challenging as Amsterdam is a tourist city with different star hotels. One can find accommodation from sites like, 'Lastminute', 'easytobook' and 'ebookers'.
Technically, the answer is zero. The closest airport to Amsterdam is Schiphol. It is around a 15 minute train ride to the airport from Amsterdam Centraal Station. The airport code for Schiphol is AMS. This is the airport that tourists fly into when coming to visit Amsterdam.
"There are many luxury apartment available in Amsterdam. The heart of Amsterdam tends to be among the most exclusive and expensive areas to rent or buy an apartment. There, one is close to museums, markets, and other areas of interest."

pretty pricey, but it worth every penny :)
In my experience hotels are somewhat expensive, but meals, public transport and museums are very reasonable.
Depends quite a lot on what currency you're bringing. Generally speaking alcohol and restaurants are expensive.

There doesn't appear to be a place in Amsterdam called "Rechtswinkel". Popular tourist attractions in the city of Amsterdam are: Anne Frank house, Amsterdam Arena, Van Gogh Museum, Paradiso and Amsterdam's canals.
Amsterdam is very accessible for the interested tourist. The Dutch tourist board has plenty of information available on their website and in their tourist offices across the Netherlands.
No. Many thousands of Americans visit Australia every month.
