Peopel think that if you are under age in every state you cant. if you live in Maine and you are 17 you and you run away.... the cops cant do any thing about it!!!!!!
OK..
I Have been told many many times the answer to this, but its real iffy. Most people on here are gonna tell you that you MUST BE 18 TO BE CONSIDERED AN ADULT.
well that is totally true.
But every single time all these parent on here fail to tell you the whole story, or point towards impossible to attain ways for you to move out at 17, like Emancipation(Which is a ridiculously long process, could take up to a year, and cost a good bit of YOUR money.)
But here is the truth, and it differs from state to state, and largely community to community.
Yes you can move out, without parent consent at 17. Period. people will tell you otherwise, saying that you have to be 18 to be an adult, thus to move out. Im so tired of hearing this.
But does that mean you can move out? That's the hard question. But ill tell you a story and we can find out if it applies to you.
Im 19 years old, now attending college and working. I own my very own house, car, pay all my own bills, and i Take care of my 17 year old Girlfriend.
She is about a year and a half younger than me and a senior in highschool. We have been together for 4 years, since middle school.

The only way you ca move in with him if your parents give all your rights to your boyfriend, but you can't move out without your parents permission because your still a minor and your boyfriend is 23 and he could go to jail if your parents are not ok with it. So just stay home and with at least a year or two and see how everything is going with your parents and your boyfriend. No, the legal age for moving out without your parents permission is 18-years-old.
No, only someone "of age" (18 years) can live without parental permission, If they do the parents can be charged with abuse.
18-years-old.
When you're 18 you can move out yes. But your parents don't have to help you financially.
If both of your parents give permission, you can get married. Without their permission you will have to wait until you are both 18.
No.
{| |- | No they cannot. And they can't get married without parental permission either. Until they are adults they remain the responsibility of their parents. That includes the parents determining where thay can live. |}
If you have your parents permission and his parents welcome you into their home and you don't have sex, since he is below the age of consent, yes you can. Until you are 18 you can not move without your parents permission.
{| |- | No, they cannot sign the lease paperwork. They can certainly move into the apartment with the permission of the parents. And if the parents or boyfriend sign the lease, there should be no problems. |}
Not in Tennessee, you need their permission. Once you turn 18 you can marry without consent.
