Usually mixtures, although some are compounds. If you want to consider things like gold, platinum, and copper nuggets and/or diamonds as "stones" they can also be elements (ignoring inclusions and impurities, which would make these too mixtures).

Some examples:

  1. mixtures - granite, basalt, sandstone, meteorite
  2. compounds - galena, fools gold, quartz, rock salt
  3. elements - gold nugget, platinum nugget, copper nugget, diamond
