Is the Titanic love story madeup?

Was there a real Jack and a Real Rose? Unlikely. But there are scores, I am sure, of true love stories among the passengers of the ill-fated Titanic. One of my favorites was glossed over in the 1997 movie. It was that of Isador & Ida Straus, owners of MACY's Department Store.

Married for over 40 years, they were the elderly couple you saw in the movie who refused to be separated. Although the movie took some liberties with where the couple met their end (in the movie, they are shown to return to their cabin and go down with the ship lying on the bed) it is true that they decided to go down with the ship, together.

Do a bit of net Surfing on the subject. There are many sites that have some truly fascinating stories. For example, there are some fantastic stories associated with some of the relics that tour with the Titanic museum displays. Do yourself a favor. Allow plenty of time while surfing. You are going to get caught up in many different stories.

There were probably lots of love stories on the real Titanic. As James Cameron took pains to show, every person on board had a story. There were probably lots of couples who were in love.

But Jack and Rose were entirely fictional people. And it is unlikely -- though not impossible -- that anybody actually met and fell in love for the first time on the Titanic.Did you know the Titanic is actually based on a girl that was on the titanic but didn't die and before she died she told her story someone to make some money added a love story. Then she died at like age 75 and had her ashes spread over the Titanic's final resting place I like that ending.

No. It was made up to make a good story around a true event. Jack would never have gotten from the steerage deck to the upper decks because the people below were locked in. That's one reason so many died when the ship went down ( besides not enough life boats) they were locked in and no one unlocked the door. He was an Irish immigrant and considered the lowest of the low and she was the cream of society and would have never spoken to him let alone love him. This was the way society was in the 1900's.

Yes it is, it's just to make the movie interesting. Because otherwise watching a ship sink would be boring.
