It is partially based on a true story of the authors wife's grandparents. But the photos in the movie were young photos of the actor and actress, James Garner and Gena Rowlands, who played the elderly Noah and Allie.

You wrote this in the Twilight area, but is the Notebook a true book. Gosh, yes. It's amazing and I got to tell you, you need to read it. Not to bash Twilight, because I do love Twilight but it has more love meaning into it as you see in the movie also. I think you should read it, it's pure amazment.
