No, the movie Titanic is not the same. But the only things that really did happen, was the titanic striking an ice berg, the ship going down by the head, and the back of the ship completely ripped from sheer weight difference. Plus, the front of the ship hitting the bottom of the Mid-Atlantic and cause the tip of the head to bend and be completely lodge it on the sea floor. The back however, fell straight down(the propelers facing upwards), causing it to stand straight up while stuck in the sea floor.
I don"t quite grok (Real Titanic) ( Fake Titanic) Several movies have dealt with the epic shipwreck disaster, and they used the correct terminology- in all cases the vessel was called the Titanic, the route, names of prominent crew members, etc were kept close to historical reality- with some novelty passenger characters at the scriptwriter"s discretion. Titanic films include: A Night To Remember- based on the book by Walter Lord. Titanic ( several films bearing this name) upt to and including the recent ( as Titanic sagas go) l997 production. Practically every movie that deals with a reasonably modern (twentieth century) ocean liner accident is nolens volens ( willing or unwillingly) compared to the Titanic saga. Maybe you are thinking of the Poseidon Adventure. Poseidon took place in modern times, was based on a novel by Paul Gallico (not usually associated with disaster films) and the cause of the accident was quite different- it occured on New Year"s Eve, and the vessel was capsized by a 90 foot ( or so about that size) Tidal Wave. One hastens to add tidal waves are rare in the Atlantic and alert ship crews can usually Dodge them from a safe distance. oh well it is fiction. This sort of thing might be what you mean by Fake Titanic. It"s a heavy slog, not my idea of entertainment.
It's a romantic drama set around a disaster where 1,517 died so in that sense, Yes it was.
I suppose since the male lead sacrifices himself, it is sad in that way as well. Bottom line, if you think it's sad, then Yes it is.
if you mean if its the real deal titanic sinking in real life then no but if youre talking about if the thing in the movie that happend really happend then yes

I'm sad to say it, but the film that has the most professional stuntmen by far was "Titanic" at around 140. Beats out any war, disaster, or martial arts movie I am aware of. Great question!
