"The Great Train Robbery" was made in 1903 (not 1908) and directed by Edwin S. Porter. It holds an important place in American film history, since it was one of the first silent films with a plot, and it featured "Broncho Billy" Anderson, who became one of the early movie stars. It is rarely on TV, except as an excerpt in a documentary about American film history. But Kino Films put it out on a DVD (in the hand-tinted version), and there is also a version of it on YouTube.
