The first Lassie, a collie named Pal, died in 1958 at the age of 18, from natural causes. Eleven generations of his offspring have appeared in Lassie productions for TV and film between 1954 and 1999. There was never any indication that Lassie got the TV crew sick on the 1950's show "Lassie."
