Versailles is a massive garden with fountains. It began on swampy land as a hunting palace but was filled in and laid out in a formal French style between 1661-1700. The geometric aligned terraces, flowerbeds( which were changed 5 times a day) , tree lined paths, ponds and fountains. There are 400 odd statues of marble, bronze, and lead were made by the most talented artists. The Grand Canal is oriented to reflect the sunset and the largest fountain is the Bassin de Neptune with 99 spouting gushers. One of the problems with the fountains is they can't all run at the same time there isn't enough water pressure.
