The second tallest mountain (i think) is Mount Ruapehu in Taupo, which erupts frequently, only sending ash, but no lava.
Two remarkable ones are Mount Taranaki by the city of Taranaki, and an amazing one which i have even climbed is Mount Tokatoka near Dargaville, in Northland. It is know for it's amazing point.
