No.
There is no walkway on the bridge. The bridge is shut down for a short time for the bike ride. Traffic is delayed about 20 minutes to give the bikes a head start and to thin out the line. Bikes use mostly the right travel lane although I did drift out to the left lane one year when the crew was working on the piers. The left lane is an expanded steel deck, much like a thick catwalk. You can see right straight through to the water. I sus pect this material is used to reduce wind load on the deck. Great ride. Five miles from start to finish. Very cool with the sun just coming up on the horizon.
