It was the economic - the money! The reason Ponyboy thinks they fight is because of power, but also because the greasers have nothing. They live in such a poor community as the socs live in the rich part.

At one point of the book Randy explains how the rumble won't change anything. socs will still be socs and greasers will still be greasers...i think....lol

What is one reason the theme to the outsiders is dont judge a book by its cover?

LolbecauseHAXUMAD!? LOLOLOLOLOL....jk I think it is becuase people judge the socs and the greasers with steriotype. Like how the socs think that all the greasers are ghetto people, and how the greasers think that the socs are stuck up snob jerks like Bob.

Where do the socs and greasers fight?

It's a matter of opinion, but based on true facts from the book, I would say the Greasers because they won the rumble at the end of the book, and Johnny killed Bob Sheldon. But also the Socs will jump Greasers, they beat up Johnny, and they stole Cherry and Marcia back from Johnny and Ponyboy.

Why are the greasers and the socs rivals in the outsiders?

Well, when the Ewoks came to shape the earth into a sphere, the Ewoks also created gangs, and they controlled all the gangs into having hatred for all separate gangs. The greasers and Socs are one of the Ewok's gangs.

Why are socs and greasers rivals in the book outsiders?

The Greasers fight in the book The Outsiders because the Soc's drive around in their fancy cars looking for trouble. They go around and jump kids like Johnny and almost Ponyboy. The Greasers are considered dirty and a menace to society, while the Soc's are consider rich kids who never start trouble. The Greasers fight because they feel like they must protect and defend themselves. The two gangs also fight because each gang has their own problems and they take it out on each other. In the story, the fighting escalates to rumble. Eventually, Ponyboy(Greaser) and Randy(Social) realizes that the fighting is useless. They realize that it isn't going to solve their own problems. As Cherry Valence had previously said, they all watch the same sunset.
