No, you are clearly confused.

Sometime between about 1838 and 1844 a Lakota named Crazy Horse had a son with fairer than usual hair. The child was at first called Chaoha (among the trees), but was also known as "The Light-Haired One", but as was the custom a relative (He Dog) gave him another name: Curly.

Later, when Curly became a warrior and fought the Omahas, his father transferred his own name (Crazy Horse) to his son, taking instead the name Worm.

So: Curly became Crazy Horse.
