Another member of our family (descended from Elizabeth's brother Alexander Kerr Barrie) had a search done on this which concluded our branch of the family is not related to James M Barrie - despite this being a common story in my grandmother's generation and names like Peter and Wendy being used as family names in our line as a result. So I am really not too sure because family stories can be true - but the family research expert says no.
