Sort of.
The movie was originally released simply as "Star Wars", but Lucas wanted to use that as the overall title of the series, so when it was re-released it became "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope."
The later movies were released as episode titles from the beginning, but frankly IV has the lamest episode title in the series by at least an order of magnitude and would have been hard to market ("The Empire Strikes Back," for example, is a little vague but at least sounds like it might be an action movie. "A New Hope" sounds like a documentary on adoption or something).
Yoda did not appear in the original Star Wars, A New Hope.
The full title is Star Wars IV: A New Hope or Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, but when the movie first came out in American theatres, it was just called Star Wars.
If what you mean is 'When was the first Star Wars movie released?' Then the answer is 1977, with Star Wars: A new hope.
The first Star Wars film released was Episode 4: "A New Hope," which is originally named "Star Wars." It was released on May 25, 1977
You are mistaken. Episode IV was released in 1977 and was re-released as a part of the Special Edition Trilogy in 1997. It was initially entitled Star Wars, and wasn't yet called "A New Hope," or even Episode IV initially, but it was renamed in 1981, to be Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope
It had no number when it was released and was just called Star Wars; when it was re-released in 1980 it was renamed "Star Wars Episode IV: A new hope"
"A New Hope"Originally, it was just named "Star Wars." But then in 2004, when the entire original trilogy was released in a DVD box set, it was then renamed "A New Hope."
Yoda did not appear in the original Star Wars, A New Hope.
Star Wars IV: a New Hope comes before Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi.

It can be referenced a number of ways, "Star Wars", "A New Hope", "Episode IV" or "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope"
Star Wars: A New Hope Released 1977 in movies It was originally just named "Star Wars," but then after the release of the prequel trilogy films, it was then named "Episode 4: A New Hope."
A New hope
Star Wars Episode IV : A New Hope
The full title is Star Wars IV: A New Hope or Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, but when the movie first came out in American theatres, it was just called Star Wars.
If you mean the film from 1977, it was just called "Star Wars." But if you're talking about the 4th film that's commonly known as "Episode 1," it is named "The Phantom Menace."
