The original Twilight Zone was canceled in January 1964. CBS claimed it was spending too much money and didn't get high enough ratings. ABC expressed some interest in picking it up, but wanted another title. Rod Serling said no.

So called because it's neither completely in the light or dark .
Television shows were cheaper to produce in Black & White. Show producers did not really think into the future about there still being a market for a year decades later. Most network shows were being made in color by 1965 but Twilight Zone ended production in 1964. Another consideration was the availability of color televisions. When The Twilight Zone went on the air in 1959, most if not all televisions were Black & White, so it wouldn't have helped to make it in color.
The twilight zone on Mercury ( the planet) has been disproved. It nor longer exists except as a science-fiction concept. It was supposed to be a belt of earthlike climate between the two extremes of Brightside ( perpetually facing solar heat) and Darkside- the opposite extreme. these theories were based on a false hypothesis that the planet did not rotate in a normal orbit. So, the Mercurial Twilight zone does not exist- no chemical composition is possible!

There's not a category specific for questions regarding 'The Twilight Zone' because of so few questions that are asked about the classic television series (but there should be) .

They are amazingly adaptable creatures so if they go down there I'm sure they can survive it.
It sounds like you're talking about "Eye of the Beholder" which wasoriginally titled "The Private World of Darkness." That is a Twilight Zone episode.
Buy the script for money from the makers
Leave is singular, so it should be "leave has been discontinued."
