Not exactly. Researchers have found that the steel on the ship was made wrong and impurities were in the steel. This weakened the steel and in the cold water it became brittle so when it hit the iceburg it cracked like glass.

If you are talking about the ship Titanic, well no there was not any snow. In the movie, it looks like there was snow but it is just chunks of ice from the iceberg.
