At the time the Disney empire had both theatrical movies ( for example Mary Poppins, which was the last film personally supervised by Mr. Disney, he died in l966)- and two separate television programs- the Mickey Mouse Club and the weekly Walt Disney"s wonderful world of color- so there is a huge galactic field. Mary Poppins was probably the biggest Disney money-maker of the sixties. it used special effects to mix live action and cartoons ( now a staple, look at Mcgruff, the crime dog) and unfortunately gave vent to the Disney animus about religion. a Church, and a major, landmark one, is at best backdrop in the film. as it is a storm breaks out and, instead of takin the kids into the church ( and out of the rain)- Mary starts up some wand-waving magic and conjures up a magic one-ride carnival in a sun-lit vacant lot- and how this is done is never explained . a Typical Disney jab against religion.
