Guiding Light is the soap Opera with the longest run.
It began on radio in 1937 and made the transition to television in June 1952 until it ended in 2009, a 57 year run on TV(18,262 episodes) & a 15 year run on radio makes a total run of 72 years.
However if you specify television runs, Coronation Street which debuted in December 1960, has matched GL's television run in 2017 with 57 years and will become the longest running next year but still has a ways to go before it matches its total run.

∙ 12y agoThe longest tv actor is still going strong that man is William Roach also known as Ken Barlow in Coronation street.Going into the Coranation street charcter, we have ken severing for over 50 years!!! He has been in a lot of ups and downs he has had 25 girl freinds 3 wives and 4 weddings!
