You can start modeling at any age.

There are a few different areas of modeling, which depends on your age and look.

1. Babies and teens - For baby models, agencies represent newborns up to toddlers. Child models tend to be between ages 5-12 and teen models usually range between 13-17 years of age. Of course these are just guidelines. Each agency has its own rules and regs as to what specific age range it represents.

2. Commercial and fashion - for fashion some agencies will take on board some one who is as young as 12 but 14-17 is ideal. Commercial models can range from teens to young adults and even mature adults. Because commercial models represent a variety of products that target the general public, these models can vary in age and don't typically have a set age range.

3. Classic and mature models - most agencies will look for 25+ up to 70 something. Not many models will be in this group.

4. Real People Models - there are some agencies that specialize in real people models, which are men and women of various ages (usually young adult to mature models), that don't have model looks but instead reflect what the average consumer looks like. Real people models are used when clients do not want someone that "looks like a model."

If you're in the US, the age is 18. Until then you need your parents permission to model (or do anything else).
