As a cub he means to save Zazu the king's advisor's life and saves his friend Nala's life at the elephants' graveyard. Then again it is partly his fault that their lives were in danger in such a way but even so, he saves them out of his own free will. As an adult he saves his friends' Timon and Pumbaa's lives from the attacking, hungry Nala and eventually he returns home, challenges Scar and claims back his kingdom and by this, saves the lives of his entire pride and eventually has the kingdom live again as the herds returned after hearing the rightful king had returned.
