Both Baptist and Methodist are Protestant and believe in the Holy Bible as well as the Trinity, but Baptists are usually literalists, meaning they take every word of The Bible literally, and usually Methodists are not. Also, some Baptist churches are more conservative than some Methodist churches.

First of all both Baptist and Methodists(followers of Methodism) are denominations or groups in Christianity. They both believe in God, the Bible, and the works of Jesus, who they accept as their lord and savior and consider the Son of God. Both practice baptism and communion and regularly perform both, however this is also where many of their differences lie which i will discuss later on. The sign of the cross and votive candles are both used, although this is more common in Catholicism. Both of them have alters and they bow when they approach these alters. They both consider themselves part of The Communion of Saints and The Holy Catholic Church. There number of followers is also not very far apart, Methodists have about 70 million followers worldwide, and Baptists have a little over 100 million world wide.

Differences

The first place we start to see differences is in how both churches conduct baptism and communion. Methodists allow the baptism of anyone, infant, youth, or adult. Baptists however will perform baptism only to confessing youth or adults. It is not done to infants because they believe that baptism should be done to people who understand its meaning and faith. Methodists will perform baptism immersion, sprinkling, and pouring. Baptists will do only immersion. As far as communion goes Methodists welcome everyone, where as baptists let only church members who have been baptized come to communion.

There system of governance is also much different. Methodists have bishops, who oversee multiple churches. He meets with the congregation of a certain church to see what kind of pastor they want and then he chooses one for them. Baptists on the other hand are more self sufficient and the congregation chooses their own pastor.

They also have a different view when it comes to being saved. Baptists follow the doctrine of the "perseverance of saints" which states that once saved always saved. They teach that once you are saved you cannot fall from grace. Methodists on the other hand however believe that it is your choice to be saved and that after you are saved the wrong actions can cause you to lose salvation.

Baptists are more strict when it comes to traditions and beliefs. They have a very literal translation of the bible which they pass down and follow through tradition. They are generally very fundamentalists and can be considered conservative. Methodists tend to be more open minded and liberal. They consider their faith in the Bible reason, tradition, and personal experience. Though these statements represent most Methodists and Baptists it does not represent everyone. Their are a small number of liberal Baptists and a small number of conservative Methodists.

Both recite the Apostle's Creed, both practice infant baptism (and forms of confirmation), both subscribe to respective versions of the doctrine of justification by faith, Anglicans and American Methodists are episcopal (have bishops). Methodism's founder John Welsey never disavowed Anglicanism, he cleaved to The Book of Common Prayer and regarded Methodism as a movement within the Church of England. The split in communion came after his death, although relations between Methodists and Anglicans remain cordial.

Well, it depends on the individual church. Some Baptist churches sing the same songs as most Pentecostal churches (except for songs that talk about Holy Spirit baptism--unless it's a Charismatic Baptist church). And, some non-Pentecostal churches don't sing songs about the blood of Christ. Other than that, in general, the songs are about the same.

When did they start to build the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral?

The modern Anglican Communion of churches has a very long history which began soon after the time of Christ, when the first churches were planted in England. These churches were independent of Rome, and were known as 'Celtic' churches. However, for a long period (about 600AD to 1536AD) the churches in England were ruled by the Popes of the Roman Catholic church. This rule was rejected in the time of Henry VIII, and since then the Church of England has been independent again. The word 'Anglican' really just means 'English', and it came into use as just another way to describe the Church of England. However, many denominations in other countries were planted by English Anglicans, and are now part of the worldwide 'Anglican Communion.'

How many Baptist denominations are there?

There are quite a number of Baptist organizations today. The main governing distinctive of these churches is that they hold to the autonomy (independent rule) of the local church. Therefore some of the groups have organized because of location. Others have developed over controversy, as had happened in other groups considered as denominations: Presbyterians, Methodists, Lutherans, etc. For a further picture of much of the Baptists groups & churches, see the Related Link below: "What is the difference between Southern Baptists and other Baptists churches?" On that site also is resource below to a number of Related Links that reveal more about Baptist churches.
