Teak is a tropical hardwood with a very oily nature. As a hardwood it is very durable and rot resistance and its oily nature repels water. If left to weather naturally it turns a grey colour but if oiled will remain red/black.

It is used in marine decking construction and for garden furniture and wooden window frames and greenhouses.

On the downside, it takes a long time to grow and i legal loggers damage the environment trying to harvest it from protected environments.
