It is about Horton the Elephant, who's faced with 2 challenges at once. Not only does he have to protect his lil' friend JoJo (and all of the Who's in Whoville) from a world of evil around, but also guards an abandon egg, left from Lazy Mayzie LaBird. Horton faces many obstacles, including One Feathered Tail, Miss Gertrude McFuzz who never loses faith in him. Also she is the only one who notices his "Kind and Powerful Heart" (song lyric reference to "Notice Me Horton") It is an extraordinary musical.
It's like an hour and a half including intermission For the versions I was in, it was about an hour with no intermission.
Most of the musical is songs, but in each song there is a small amount of dialogue, and a couple lines or a short scene between songs.
It depends on where you are auditioning for it, but generally yes, you can sing anything, though it is usually smart to pick a song that u can see being sung by the character you are auditioning for. Here is a song for each of the lead roles: Horton- "Different" from Honk or "Kite" from You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown Cat in the Hat- "There's No Knowing" from Willy Wonka Jr. Gertrude McFuzz- "I Can Hear the Bells" from Hairspray Mayzie La Bird or a Bird Girl- "Popular" from Wicked or "Bop to the Top" from Disney's High School Musical Girl Jojo- "In My Own Little Corner" from Cinderella or "Maybe" from Annie Boy Jojo- "Flying" or "Pure Imagination", both from Willy Wonka Jr. Wickersham Brother- "Easy Street" from Annie Sour Kangaroo- "Little Girls" from Annie or "Big, Blonde, and Beautiful" from Hairspray
Time to get diggy with it
In "Seussical Jr.," Mayzie La Bird sings the song "Mayzie's Song." In this lively number, she expresses her carefree and adventurous spirit, showcasing her desire for freedom and fun. The song highlights her personality and her interactions with Horton, emphasizing themes of individuality and self-expression.
Usually half time, which is called intermission in theatre, is right after Monkey Around/Chasing the Whos, right after the whos scream. After intermission usually Horton is shown in a clover patch and then says his lines there.
Hamlet Sr. was married to Gertrude. Hamlet Jr. did not marry although he did love Ophelia.
i can't post the lyrics, because it keeps saying there are "potentially obscene words", but I'll give you a link to good lyrics for it : http://www.cowboylyrics.com/lyrics/Williams-hank-jr/country-boy-can-survive-10123.HTML

The Wickershams in "Seussical the Musical Jr." are a group of mischievous monkeys who playfully disrupt the story's events. They are known for their playful antics and serve as antagonists to Horton the Elephant, often mocking him and creating chaos. Their lively and energetic presence adds humor to the show while also highlighting themes of friendship and loyalty.
