The Navajo grew corn, beans, squash, melons, peaches, onions, chillies and other crops. They raised sheep, goats and sometimes cattle. They gathered pinon pine nuts, pigweed and beeweed greens, yucca fruit, cactus fruit, wild potato, sumac berries, chokecherry, currants and many other berries and herbs. They hunted deer, antelope, elk, rabbit, prairie dog, and other animals. They have been growing and raising these crops since the late 1500s. Before that they grew mainly corn, squash and beans and hunted and gathered wild foods. Today most people go to the supermarket but some people still grow crops and raise sheep and goats.
Timber for building homes, weapons and warmth. Lakes and streams for bathing and drinking. However they typically did not eat anything from the water nor did they live near it. Vegetation and wildlife for food. Rocks, minerals & bones for tools and weapons.

I don't know if this is the translation for pigweed, but I know Mexican-Spanish very well. Here is goes: the word "weed" translated in spanish is "cizaña" and pig translation is marano or cerdo. In spanish, most of the time, translating your phrase or word are done backwards. For example, pigweed is two words making oneword in English, but in Spanish the word would be weed pig after it is translated. If you want spanish from Spain the translation would be "cizaña de cerdo" Meaning weed of pig. If pigweed is actually a herb in Mexican Spanish it would be "heirba de cerdo" or "heirba de marano". If pigweed is just a weed then the translation would be "cizaña de marano" in Mexican Spanish.
Lamb's Quarters, also known as pigweed, goosefoot, and wild spinach.
Appearance, distribution, and habitat betray pigweed's presence in yards. The Amaranthaceae family member has bloom times from July to October, red stems, and shiny black seeds. The Amaranthus genus member may be found in bright-lit, rich-soiled, well-drained gardens throughout southern Canada and the United States of America.
Bulldozing, controlled burns, manual and mechanical removal, pre- and post-emergent herbicides, smother-cropping, and soil-amending are ways to get rid of pigweed. The Amaranthaceae family member in question can be controlled by hand-pulling and hoeing smaller areas. Smother-cropping with buckwheat before seeding to winter rye works in rural areas and on farmlands.
My dictionary has pigweed but not piguant. Perhaps you mean "piquant," as in The spices in jambalaya make it piquant, or Everyone at the exhibition was touched by the piquant photographs of rural poverty.
The bridled nailtail wallaby's favoured foods are non-woody broad-leafed plants, chenopods (low-growing succulents such as pigweed), flowering plants and grasses.
