Who was France Pizarro?

Francisco Pizarro (1478?-1541) became famous for his conquest of Peru. Born at Trujillo, Spain, he first came to the Americas in 1502, and lived for some years on the island of Hispaniola. He then joined Vasco Nunez de Balboa's colony of Darien, in what is now Panama. Pizarro accompanied Balboa on his march to the sea in 1513. After Balboa's death in 1519, Pizarro received a grant of land in Panama and became a cattle rancher. But he soon became interested in reports of the rich Inca Indian empire. With an illiterate adventurer, Diego de Almagro (1475?-1538), and a priest, Fernando de Luque, he started searching for this empire. Their first expedition, in 1524 and 1525, failed to reach Peru. In 1526, Pizarro and Almagro again set out from Panama. This voyage also failed. On the island of Gallo off the coast of Ecuador, Pizarro could persuade only 13 men to remain with him, while the rest returned to Panama. Almagro brought Pizarro reinforcements, and they reached a Peruvian city before turning back. The explorers then decided that Pizarro should go to Spain and try to obtain the king's permission for the conquest of Peru. He went in 1528, and received the king's consent. Pizarro sailed from Panama in 1531, with his three brothers and about 180 men, and started his campaign from the Inca city of Tumbes... ...In 1536, Pizarro had to put down an Inca rebellion. Almagro gained followers and revolted in 1538 because he believed that the Pizarro family had treated him unfairly. In this civil war, Almagro was defeated and put to death by Pizarro's brother Hernando. The Spanish king rewarded Francisco Pizarro with the title of marquis. Pizarro ruled Peru from Lima until June 26th, 1541. On that day a group of former followers of Almagro burst into his house and killed him, as he entertained guests at dinner. Francisco Pizarro was basically a Spanish conquistador.
