The Children's Crusade was a political effort to place religious fervor back into the failed Fourth Crusade. The belief was that the children were protected by God and through this protection they would be able to take the holy land of Israel from the Muslims.

Most children were captured by slave traders and etc. The children who actually reached Jerusalem were unheard of for around 18 years and they certainly did not take over Jerusalem.
