The film is often noted for not having a distinct climax, but generally, critics agree that due to the timing and emotional response to the anti-war rally scene in which Forrest and Jenny reunite in the center of the Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C., that that scene can be considered the climax of the film.
The Reason Forrest Gump Ran"i just felt like running" is the reason Forrest gives, but the real reason is that Jenny left him. To make a long story short, Jenny returned to Forrest's home for a brief period, which Forrest said was the happiest time in his life until that point. Then, one night Forrest asks Jenny to marry him. Her only answer is that "Forrest, you don't want to marry me." He asks her why she doesn't love him. Later that night she enters his bed, tells him that she loves him, and they make love. She leaves the next morning in a cab while Forrest is still asleep. That same day Forrest takes off running, and goes for over three years.

Gump was born near the small town of Greenbow, Alabama, on June 6, 1944 (the same day the Allied forces began Operation Overlord). His father was absent during his life; his mother said he was "on vacation". His mother named Forrest after Nathan Bedford Forrest, a noted Confederate general in the American Civil War and the first Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, who is supposedly related to Gump. She intended his name to be a reminder that "sometimes we all do things that, well, just don't make no sense."
