The Buddha spoke about many things, about life, about human beings, about humanity. His general teachings were simple: that this world is full of suffering, and we human beings must escape suffering by overcoming desire, because desire is the cause of suffering. He advocated the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path. But what is, in essence, the core teaching of the Buddha? He advocated that the ultimate goal is Nirvana. Nirvana is escaping this cycle of death and rebirth. He spoke about good Karma, which meant that we must respect humanity, not just human beings but everything alive. We must do good Karma, good actions, good deeds. But ultimately, we must aim to reach the state of Nirvana.
The Four Noble Truths outline the summary of life and the way to enlightenment, but the Eightfold Path indicates the attributes of a life in compliance with one's Buddha nature.
