Phineas Gage was a rail road worker before the civil war. He was severely injured when an explosion sent a metal bar through his head. Amazing he survived the horrific injury. The first doctor that arrived commented that Gage's vomiting had cause almost a cup of his brain to spill out on to the ground. Gage made a full recovery from the accident but later suffered from violent convulsions. He died 12 years after the accident.

After Phineas Gage's accident, workers had to fire him because he acted evil towards people. He cursed at people and began to loose the ability to care about humans or anyone and/or thing for that matter.
Phineas Gage was in a horrible accident. He survived for another eleven years following the accident. The accident description is that an iron rod was driven completely through his head destroying the majority of the left frontal lobe and affecting his memory, behavior, and personality.

Phineas Gage was known for surviving an unimaginable accident where where a large iron rod was driven entirely through his head. As he worked as a foreman for the American railroad construction, an explosion caused the iron rod, which was used as part of the explosion, to fly in the air and penetrate Gage's skull.
