There are five different Girl Guide organizations in Sweden. The uniforms for the different organizations generally consists of a shirt and neckerchief. The colors of the shirts vary with the organization and the different age levels.
Girl Guides in Sweden have a choice of a long sleeve shirt, short sleeve shirt, a polo, or a long or short sleeve T-shirt. They must always wear a scarf as part of the uniform. They make their own choice of pants, shorts, or skirt.
The color of the uniform and the scarf depends on the association the Girl Guide belongs to.
Projects for Swedish Girl Guides and Girl Scouts are based on individual development.
They emphasize education, nature conservation and ecology. Outdoor activities are very important, including camping in forest huts. They are trained in tracking and orienteering. There are camps for disabled members.
They work for community development, both in Sweden and in other countries.
In Sweden, there is a tradition of the boys and girls working together, so the Boy Scout Association and the Girl Guide Association are united in one organization, the Guides and Scouts of Sweden. Scouts in Sweden follow the Scout Method. They participate in outdoor life and are involved in their communities.
