Light is symbolic for knowledge, and both Prometheus and Equality knew of light (or knowledge) that the others of their respective times did not (assume fire is light). Both worked to bring the knowledge to the hands and minds of mankind, in order to provide for the advancement of mankind as a whole. Both seem to have had faith in mankind; believing that man will pull through in the end. Both (Equality intends to) spark new ways for man. Prometheus provides man with fire, enable them to grow to a more civilized and complete society, more independent of the gods. While Equality intends to convert his current world back into one of individualism as opposed to collectivism. Both, as well, were punished. Prometheus's liver (growing back at night) was eaten every day by an eagle; and for a time, Equality was whipped in a effort to learn where he had been when not attending the communal meeting.
