New Zealand has a very varied landscape in its moderate compass. Ranging from deep glacial-carved lakes and fjords in the south, to volcanic cones in the north, complete with several active volcanoes. Overall the land that is not farmed is well forested, but there are lots of scenic areas. Use of the mountains and lakes is for backpacking, skiing and boarding, kayaking and so on.
Most New Zealand houses are built separate from their neighbours (with no adjoining walls) on individual sites or titles. An average older house may be about 120 square metres in floor area and of light timber framed construction. The styles of houses vary depending on the period in which they were built.

Our homes in New Zealand are mainly made out of wood, and/or brick. We don't have apartment buildings so to speak like in other countries. Our homes in New Zealand have a front yard, and back yard (which range in sizes e.g a large backyard with gardens, or a courtyard) It is also VERY common to have off street parking and lawn.
