Why did Edward have to get the baby out of Bella before turning her into a vampire?
Because a woman's body needs to be able to change and grow to accommodate a baby, and a vampires body is unchanging. So changing bella whilst she was still pregnant would have killed the baby.

What is the conflict for eclipse?
I have had to re-read Eclipse over and over, not just for fun but to try and fully understand it. Well the conflict in Eclipse is, Victoria(Nomad, James' Mate) is trying to avenge her mate James', whom Edward had killed in Twilight. While doing this she creates a whole army of new born vampires. New-born vampires are basically newly "created" vampires. They are the most powerful because their own human blood still lingers within them. Their is an intruder in Bella's bedroom, Riley(the head of the army) went to retrieve a piece of clothing so the army would have her sent. Edward catches his sent in Bella's room and they go to Edwards house and realize that their is a new-born army being created. Later on you find out that Jasper is very familiar with new-borns, so he teaches the Cullens and the wolves all about them so they will be prepared for the battle. Edward decides to stay back from the battle. Edward, Bella, and Jake all camp out on a mountain. While the battle is going on in a field, Victoria catches Edward's sent on the mountain. She finds them and battles Edward. As she is seconds away from killing Edward, Bella remembers the Quilete legend of the wife saving her husband from the cold one. Bella picks up a sharp rock and cuts her arm. Her blood destracts Victoria and Riley long enough for Edward to kill her and Seth to kill Riley. When the get back to everyone they find that all the bones on the right side of Jacob's body are shattered. After they get Jacob home Jane, Alec, Felix, and Demetri of the Volturi arrive to see what has happend. They see that Bella is still human and let them know that the Volurtri dont give second chances and that she should be human very soon.... Well i hope that clearified it for you(:

In theory, there is no reason why a vampire should not be able to breed with a human as long as their reproductive organs were not damaged during their catharsis into vampirism... It would be like one human mating with another human that has a disease. Still able to mate, the vampire can have offspring with a healthy human, the only unknown is how the offspring/children that result from this breeding with fare in the end. Vampires are another species yes, but we are so closely related that it makes sense. No offense to any vampires.
