I believe the female is called a hind in the wild variety of asses. When the female ass is bred to a stallion horse , the offsping is called a hinny . This offspring is usually sterile, as are mules, since the donkey/horse cross also results in sterile offsping.

If you breed a male donkey to a female pony what do you call the offspring?

When you breed a male donkey (a jack) with a female horse (a pony is a type of horse), the offspring is called a hinny. This is the opposite of the more well-known cross, the mule, which is the result of breeding a male horse (a stallion) with a female donkey (a jenny).
