What do you do after you beat the 4th gym in Pokemon diamond?

After you have done that, you go onto catching all the Pokemon listed in your Pokemon dex and training them up to lv 100 then go and catch all of the unowns

you go to pastoria city go inside the great marsh go talk to the guy on the right he will give you hm05 defog then go outside and then you will see a team galactic grunt speak to him he will run away chase him down to lake valor then once he is range towards the lake he will battle you he is weak though then walk towards the lake you will see Cynthia she'll tell you she is upset because team galactics blocking the lake but then she will give you a secret potion from the cianwood city pharmacy in johto then you go up to the psyduck north of solacean town then use the potion thingy on them and they will move then Cynthia will apear and ask you to deliver and charm for her grandma in celestic town just above the path that the psyduck were blocking then when you get there a guy will be blocking the ruins then you battle him he isn't very strong after that go inside the ruins and then cynthias Grammy will come and give you hm03 surf well that is after you give her the charm inside the cave of course then you go to hearthome city fantina will be back finally she has 3 Pokemon driftblem lv32 and also gengar lv34 and mismagius lv36 normal,fighting,and ground type moves wont really work to good a psycic type or ghost type will though tell me if you have troubles deafeating fantina do tell I did ok that's it

Before you beat the fourth gym you should notice a team galactic member standing near the safari zone , once you beat the gym talk to him and keep following him ,you will have to battle your rival later. you may have noticed the scientists blocking your way to lake valor they are part of team galactic! (if that helps)

The obvious answer is to beat the fourth one, but I know what you mean. You need to backtrack through Cerulean City. Do you remember the road off to your right, blocked off by a bush? Well now, with your new cut HM, you can cut it down, and head on towards Rock Tunnel. Beware! Rock Tunnel is pitch black, giving only a small circle of light. But, if you have 30 types of Pokemon in your pokedex, with full data, then you can go through the diglett's cave just east of Vermillion. Cut down the bushes and enter all the houses until you see Prof. Oak's Aide. If he sees you have caught 30 types of Pokemon, then he will give you the HM Flash. There are no requirements to use it, so teach it to a Pokemon, and head on to rock tunnel. After you get through, you head straight through Lavender Town and on to Celladon city, where you will find both your first Giovanni Rocket Boss Battle, AND your next gym challenge!

After you defeat Erika at the Celadon City gym, you head East to Saffron City. You must first go through the gate thing that connects the routes and cities. The guard there will say he's thirsty. If you haven't already, go into the tall building in Celadon City and talk to the old women. She'll then give you a drink; go back to the passage that connects Saffron and Celadon and talk to the guard. After you've given him the drink the old lady offered, you're free to go into Saffron and then battle gym leader Sabrina.
