If you satisfy these requirements, but decide to be a philosophy major or something, you can still get accepted to a doctoral program. It might be a little more difficult, but you still have a chance. I know a lady that was 42, and graduated with her BS in nursing and worked as a nurse for 20 years. She went back to school, took the required undergrad classes and got accepted to a doctoral program, even though she had a BS in nursing. They actually liked the fact that she had experience of 20 years working with people. I had a B.A. in philosophy, and went on to get my Ph.D. in psychology. However, it is true that most Ph.D. programs want to see that you've taken the core courses of a psychology major. That's why I got my M.A. in psychology before getting accepted into my Ph.D. program. I have a B.A in psychology and philosophy, but I went for my M.A. in psychology just to strengthen my application before applying for the PhD in clinical psych.
