The acronym "M.P." stands for Member of Parliament.

Though the technical term "member of Parliament" can refer to a member of either House (that is, either the Senate or the House of Commons), the term is generally used to refer only to members of the House of Commons. Any one who is currently a member of the House of Commons is entitled to use the post-nominals "M.P." during office.
