Is the Phantom from The Phantom of the Opera a villain-I need to do an essay on a villain and I need to make sure he is one first?

Well, he may appear to be a villain at first, however I would not call him a villain at heart. I would try picking another indisputable villain. Lets take a look at some famous villains.Darth VaderFreddy KruegerBlackbeard - pirateJack the RipperFrank and Jesse James - western villainI'm sure you can come up with more. This is how www.dictionary.com defines the word "villain": vil·lain-noun 1. a cruelly malicious person who is involved in or devoted to wickedness or crime; scoundrel. 2. a character in a play, novel, or the like, who constitutes an important evil agency in the plot. I do not think that the Phantom fits in the first definition because he is not truly cruel; everything he does, he thinks he does it for a reason other than sadistic tendencies. He is not safe in his mind and therefore is simply willing to do anything for what he wants; i.e., Christine. He is simply trying to get something rather than doing it for no reason other than his pleasure. However, it may be argued that he fits the second definition. It can certainly be argued that the Phantom is not "evil", but that is his role in the play and movie; he is the antagonist. However, it can be argued that he is in fact the protagonist and a victim of the unfeeling demands of perfection from society. Do I believe that the Phantom is a villain? No; I think he is a person who needs guidance and shelter in order to get his priorities straight. Are there others who think that he is a villain? Yes, I'm quite sure that there are. It's an extremely arguable point and it is very hard to pin it down.

Why is it call a soap opera if there is no singing?

Soap Operas were so named due to the fact that these melodramatic shorts were first sponsored by soap companies. There was quite a bit of dramatic lighting & background music (along with a bit of over acting) which caused the shows to be compared to operas. Opera has a wider meaning than just the musical plays known as "operas." Opus (the singular of opera) means "work" as in a piece or product from an artist. An artist's greatest work is sometimes called his/her "magnum opus." Other examples exist of "opera" being used humorously to describe a genre of movie or TV program, such as "horse opera" (a Western).

Why do they call soaps soap opera?

Serials got the nickname "soap operas" because they were interspaced with commercials for soap. As housewives were the main audience, soap manufacturers were the main sponsors.

Will Danny Phantom get a fourth season?

No. Danny Phantom is over. I know, I'm bummed too! OR. There is a small possibility that it might come back with a new series as they brought back the old episodes to nick again, this always means that they could have new ideas, you never know.

What is the name of the Opera House in Phantom of the Opera?

The entire Opera Populaire in the film was built by the movie makers, on separate stages and as separate exteriors. They said they wanted it to be a complete, sensual character of its own. However, the original Gaston Leroux novel bases the story around the Metropolitan Opera House in Paris, which apparently does has an extremely deep labyrinth of passages beneath the opera house, and at the bottom a lake.
