It was not. MST3K usually featured older films than this because it was easier to use public domain films instead of trying to get the rights to films.
The show is now called rifftrax, if that' what your looking for.
MST3K stands for Mystery Science Theater 3000, a cult phenomenon in the US through the 1990s. It featured Joel Hodgson as a narrator robot who was forced to watch, and comment on, campy science fiction movies.

Joel, Mike, and the bots went crazy. Dr. Forrester lost funding so the Satellite of Love crashed. LOL
one movie on the box set "godzilla vs megalon"the boys at mst3k lost the rights to it so it had to be pulled.this is a very expensive box set if you can find it.it was rereleased as 10.2 without "godzilla vs megalon".
I think that was "Top Secret!" with Val Kilmer. It was "Quest of the Delta Knights", which has been used as a segment of MST3K.
I can't be sure, but Ithink you're talking about Mystery Science Theater 3000 (known to it's more rabid fans as MST3K). For the most part, it was a TV series, but there was one movie (which didn't come out in the 80's, but since the actual movie they were being made to watch was older, I can see how this would become confusing). MST3K ran for eleven years, and is a beloved cult classic amongst sci-fi goers.Wikipedia summary: "The series features a man and his robot sidekicks who are trapped on a satellite in space by an evil scientist and forced to watch a selection of bad movies, especially (but not initially limited to) science fiction B-movie. To keep sane, the man and his robots provide a running commentary on each film, making fun of its flaws and wisecracking (or "riffing") their way through each reel in the style of a movie-theater peanut gallery. Each film is presented with a superimposition of the man and robots' silhouettes along the bottom of the screen."If the images on any of the following websites look familiar, then congratulations!
