Rhetorical techniques are different techniques used in essays or to improve them.The rhetorical techniques are

  1. Diction-Word choice
  2. Syntax- Grammatical design of a sentence
  3. Organization- Order in which you write your essay. Ex. Chronological,flashback etc. (cant rememba the rest)
  4. Tone & Attitude- Attitude author takes toward the subject
  5. Point of View- 3rd person(using he ,she ,it),3rd person omiscient(using he, she it, and when the reader knows more about the story than the characters), Stream-Line Objective(where the character expresses random thoughts) & another 1 (cant rememba name) where you read the characters mind

A rhetorical device is a technique that is used to create a certain effect on an audience; whether that is to emphasize a certain point, add humor, create suspense or shock, etc.

ex. rhetorical question, parallelism, anaphora, allusion, repetition, metaphor, simile, etc...

Examples of rhetorical devices would be repeating an important phrase over and over and citing authorities that are well-known and much-respected by the audience being addressed.
