Mainly, this is in reference to burial of the dead or burying someone who has died.

Widespread practice is to bury the dead in boxes six feet under the ground, i think for a variety of reasons, including prevention or discouragement of grave-robbers/scavengers/animals, as well as to give sufficient distance to stop any disease or parasite which might be targeting the body from spreading; at least among Western/European/North-American/Christian-based peoples anyways, I don't have a frame of reference beyond that and my own.

Figuratively, it might also be a competitive reference similar to "I am going to win and be so much better than you", ie: "I'm going to leave you six feet in the ground", as if the person was of no consequence in a competitive manner or will show no mercy to once the competition has started.

(Just FYI: We traditionally suspended our dead in square boxes among the branches and nooks and crannies of trees).
