As of 2013, there is no real, exact or similar female version of James Bond, which has caused a bit of tension between female movie fans and the movie industry.

Female movie heroes are, compared to male movie heroes, pretty rare at this time. However movie companies have recognised the problem and are trying to do something about it. Just bear in mind that it takes months, sometimes even years, to produce a good movie, so our new generation of female heroes are appearing on our screens rather slowly.

There are some female heroines that have already made their mark in movie history, but none (yet) that close to a James Bond character.

  • Lara Croft (Tomb Raider)
  • Charlies Angels
  • The Avengers (A character called Emma Peel is a female agent)
  • Wonder Woman
  • Elektra
  • Catwoman
  • Hit Girl (in the movie "Kick Ass")
  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer
  • Batwoman (although she was very unpopular with Batman fans)
  • Trinity (in "The Matrix")
  • Clarice Starling (In "Hannibal")
  • Laurie Strode (in "Halloween")
  • Hermione Granger (Harry Potter)
  • Princess Leia Organa (Star Wars)
  • Sarah Connor (Terminator)
  • Ellen Ripley (Aliens)

If you were to compare one of the Bond Girls to James Bond himself, fans agree that the closest match would be Halle Berry's character, Jinx Johnson, in Die Another Day. She is an American NSA agent who is working on the same case as British MI6 agent, Bond.
