What happend to Philip when Syrena pulls him underwater in Pirates of the Caribbean?

Philip asks Syrena, as he lays dying, to forgive everything that he's done to hurt her. In my opinion, what happens after that is unclear. Here's what I got: When Syrena finally persuades Philip to actually say those words, she pulls him underwater with her and saves him somehow... Does that help?

∙ 10y agoSyrena managed to find the two Chalices of Cartagena in the waters of the the Fountain and gave them to Jack Sparrow. She told him to not let her tear go to waste. She then went to find the injured Philip and he asked for her forgiveness. Bringing him underwater, Syrena kissed Philip to heal him and give him the ability to breathe underwater. They swam off together through the pools to freedom. Their further fate is unknown.
