What happened at the end of the last Indiana Jones movie?

They do, but the Nazis take it, and when they open it, Angels unleash His wrath upon them and kill them. Indy and Marian make it back to the U.S. with the Ark, which is stored in Area 51.

At the end of the movie, Donovan shoots Indy's dad, which forces Indy to get through three challenges to find the grail. He gets through them and Donovan and Elsa follow him into a small room with tons of grails. A guardian tells everyone that you must choose the true grail, and Donovan lets Elsa pick one for him. But she betrays him by giving him a really fancy cup, and when he drinks from it, he turns into a skeleton.

Indy picks the real cup, which is a dull stone cup. He uses the holy water to heal his dad's wound. But Elsa goes against the knight's warning not to steal the grail and causes large holes to open up in the floor. The grail falls into one of these and Elsa chases after it. She tries to reach for the grail, but her hand slips away from Indy's hold and she dies. Indiana nearly does the same, but the dad convinces him to give up. They all leave the temple and ride off on horseback, with Indy learning that the grail took a backseat to his repaired relationship with his dad.
