Great Britain did not 'conquer' Hong Kong as that word suggests something won in battle. What happened was in 1898 Britain obtained (from the then Emperor of China) a 99-year lease of the Hong Kong area that was then used as a free port and entry point to Asia for the British Empire.
India was not, but there was a time many Hong Kong polices are Indian descent; that's why there were Indians, Canadians, British, and Chinese in the battle of HK.
